Our product design expertise covers the disciplines of electronics, software and mechanical engineering. Throughout the design process the customer is kept informed of the project’s progress. Design reviews are provided as each critical milestone is reached, so you can see your original concept come to life.

All our design work is produced using modern computerised engineering techniques. These tools, which include powerful analysis capabilities, are linked together so that we can identify problems with a design early in the process, and fix them quickly.

Electronics

The electronics design tools go beyond the simple drafting of a circuit. They allow us to simulate both analogue and digital circuitry. This gives us the power to verify a design’s function and predict its performance before even a prototype is made. We can even ‘run’ a microprocessor’s programme and watch it interact with attached circuitry before committing any expenditure to prototype manufacture. These facilities help speed designs to market and reduce costs. The final design is transferred electronically to the manufacturer. This reduces the delays in manufacture and importantly, avoids costly and time-consuming errors.

Software

Our software capabilities include both conventional PC programming and the specialist area of embedded microcontroller operations. A blend of both modern design techniques and more traditional methods are used as necessary to produce high quality software in the shortest time possible. Most programming is done in high-level languages, which are easily understood. This is a major contributor to error free software. But where there is no alternative, such as in time critical applications, we will programme using the more arcane machine codes to achieve the desired performance.

Mechanics

Like our circuit design systems our mechanical design uses state of the art tools. We work in 3-dimensions to produce our component parts in the context of their final assembly. These assemblies can be animated to illustrate a mechanism. The tools also include facilities to analyse the design. By including models of the electrical assemblies it is possible to confirm that these will fit when the manufacturer brings them together.
When it comes to manufacture we can produce traditional 2-D drawings for conventional machining or manual programming of CNC tools. We can also transfer 3-D part models, in a number of formats, to suitably enabled CNC machinists.
